Communicating differences

Boston Pizza to open in Petawawa this November | Pembroke Observer

Working at Boston Pizza it is clear that we are not multicultural. Multiculturalism can be defined as a society with different cultural or ethnic groups. Although multiculturalism is a society with many different cultural and ethnic groups they do not engage with one another, they only focus on their culture and are not willing to learn from the other groups. I see Boston Pizza as more intercultural. Our team consists of multiple ethnic groups and different cultures. We all come from different backgrounds, but we all have a mutual understanding and respect for one another. We allow each person to express their cultural norms to further our knowledge and deepen our relationship with one another. We are all willing to learn from one another which allows everyone to grow as an individual. Although some things might not be "normal" to you they can be to a different culture. Boston Pizza being more intercultural allows the team to form unity and have an accepting community. Multiculturalism is a division within different cultures which is exactly what Boston Pizza veers away from.
